TPR / PERMITS TO WORK

Keep work authorisation and its evidence together.

TPR gives your team a structured digital permit-to-work process, from preparation and checks to authorisation, acceptance and closure. Make the stages clear to the people requesting, approving and carrying out the work.

What does a digital permit-to-work system manage?

It records the steps used to authorise and control specified work. TPR supports checklists, contractor confirmation, site authorisation, operative acceptance before activation and closure records. Your organisation defines which work requires a permit and who is competent to authorise it.

Who it helps: Permit issuers, authorised site personnel, contractors, facilities teams, project managers and H&S professionals.

FROM INFORMATION TO ACTION

The workflow in practice.

STEP 01

Prepare the permit

Set out the work and complete the relevant checks. Review the contractor information and associated RAMS as part of your site’s preparation process.

STEP 02

Obtain contractor confirmation

Capture the contractor’s confirmation before the permit moves to site authorisation. Keep the information available to the people reviewing the request.

STEP 03

Authorise and accept

The site authorises the work through the workflow, followed by operative acceptance before activation. Keep the responsibilities at each stage visible.

STEP 04

Close and retain the record

Complete the closure stage and retain the permit record for follow-up and reporting. Review it alongside related contractor and safety information.

ILLUSTRATIVE WORKFLOW

What this could look like on your site.

A contractor requests a permit for a task that your site requires to be authorised. The relevant checks are completed, the contractor confirms the details and the responsible site person authorises the work. Operative acceptance precedes activation, and the permit is closed through the process when the work is finished.

This is an example of how the workflow can be used, not a customer case study. Features depend on enabled modules, roles and site settings.

BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

Questions worth asking.

Does a permit replace a risk assessment?

No. A permit records authorisation and controls for the work under your procedures. The appropriate risk assessment, method statement and competent review still need to be in place.

Who can authorise work?

Authorisation should be assigned to the appropriate people under your organisation’s procedures. ACS will discuss roles and configuration in the demonstration.

Can we see the full approval sequence before choosing TPR?

Yes. Ask ACS to demonstrate a permit from preparation through confirmation, authorisation, acceptance and closure using the workflow relevant to your site.
